I just HAVE to write this down somehow.
Well. Recently, or so you can call two latest months from present, I’ve been digging through the collection of Hayao Miyazaki. Preferably, people call his works by the mark of… Studio Ghibli.
I’ll get straight to the point. His movies are AMAZING with a capital A-M-Z-I-N-G. The stories are somewhat unconventional although strongly marked with the theme of pacifist, enviromental-ish, anti-war and mostly feminist backgrounds. Nevertheless, it is never the usual heroic plots that you usually expect and it’s incredibly heart-rending, thought-provoking and absolutely tear-jerking. The characters are somewhat ambiguous, in contrary to popular use of a black and white characterization between the protagonist and the antagonist. Here, mostly you just can’t differ which is which.
The visual are breath-taking. Truly a feast for the eyes. I’ve read somewhere that almost 90% (some even 100%) of the scenes are HAND-DRAWN. Wow, talk about magic.
Though, here’s what took my heart completely and break it into twilight. THE MUSIC. Oh, it’ll take you to dimensions of emotions, breaking and mending your soul in a matter of a beat. Oh, dear, dear. It portrays every single tweak of a smile perfectly that it tells the story without you watching it.
